The Cast Iron Company
For over twenty-five years, the Cast Iron Company has supplied traditional street furniture, lighting and architectural metalwork to enhance urban streets, town centres, villages, seaside promenades, heritage buildings and open spaces in the UK and abroad.
We offer a full service - design, manufacture and installation.
We work with architects and town planners to design complete street furniture schemes for town centres incorporating bollards, signage and lighting. We have completed projects for The City of London, most London Boroughs including Richmond, Hounslow, Ealing and Wandsworth, Wolverhampton City Council and Guildford Borough Council.
We are experienced in the project management of sensitive projects that involve local authorities, conservation bodies, architects, residents and private sector companies. We have completed English Heritage projects that demanded initiative, innovation and partnership.
Our standard range offers:
- Heritage, traditional and modern designs
- Range of finishes - primed, galvanised, painted in any BS4800/RAL colour
- Range of fixtures for setting into concrete or fixing to a solid foundation
We can customise our street furniture to your specifications - dimensions, logos, crests and colour highlights.
We also reproduce heritage designs for conservation projects. Our faithful reproduction of the 19th century Camel and Sphinx iron benches and Sturgeon lighting columns can be found on the Thames Embankment near the Houses of Parliament.
We undertake bespoke architectural metalwork projects ranging from £1,000 to over £1 million in value.
We have completed many projects on Grade l and Grade ll listed buildings and structures.
We are experienced in the meticulous repair and replacement required to restore the original architectural glory of balconies, balustrades, windows, gates, railings, bandstands and all types of cast iron and metal structures.
Our restoration projects include the Western Bandstand in Brighton, the Bandstand Clapham Common (reputedly the largest band stand in the UK) and the complete replacement of cast iron balconies for the world famous De Vere Grand Hotel in Brighton.
Our contemporary metalwork projects include 4.5 kilometres of hand-railing for the refurbishment of the Blackpool South Shore Promenade.
